After taking a series from Texas this weekend, the Mariners continue on with the AL West with a series against the A’s. It’s their second time seeing the A’s but the first on the road, as the Mariners will play their first game of the season at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, a novelty that I’m sure will have worn off by the end of this series. The game notes inform me this isn’t the first time the Mariners have played in Sacramento, as the Rangers beat the Mariners 6-5 in an exhibition game held on March 29 in 2003 after the conclusion of spring training, back when the season used to actually start in April.
