Mariners' former No. 2 overall pick Danny Hultzen clears waivers, sent to Triple-A Tacoma

Left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen, the No. 2 overall pick by the Mariners in the 2011 MLB first-year player draft, has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma, general manager Jerry Dipoto announced Wednesday.

The 25-year-old was designated for assignment last week after more shoulder trouble sidetracked his latest comeback attempt. In 2015, Hultzen went 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three starts for Double-A Jackson after beginning the season on the disabled list. He was activated May 1, then placed on the DL again May 26 with a left rotator cuff strain and missed the remainder of the season.
