Mariners DFA pitcher Danny Hultzen, former No. 2 overall pick, add two to roster

Less than a half hour after announcing the Luis Sardinas-Ramon Flores swap, the Seattle Mariners continued to churn out moves Friday when they added outfielder Boog Powell and infielder Patrick Kivlehan to the 40-man roster.

That meant they had to subtract one player from the 40-man roster.

That player was left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen.

Hultzen was designated for assignment Friday, though he has a chance to clear waivers and accept a minor-league deal. There's also a chance another team could claim him. The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or give him a deal.
