Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Rob Whalen from the 10-day disabled list and optioned him to AAA Tacoma.
Whalen, 23, was originally placed on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation on March 31. He was acquired by the Mariners along with RHP Max Povse from the Braves for OF Alex Jackson a Player to be Named Later (LHP Tyler Pike) on Nov. 28, 2016. Whalen went 1–2 with a 6.57 ERA (18 ER, 24.2 IP) in 5 starts with the Braves last season.
