Mariners acquire right-hander Joe Wieland from the Dodgers for a minor league infielder

The Mariners continued to make tweaks and minor changes to their roster as spring training lingers just over 30 days away. On Tuesday, general manager Jerry Dipoto made a trade for starting pitching depth, acquiring right-handed pitcher Joe Wieland from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor league infielder Erick Mejia. To make room on the 40-man roster for Wieland, right-handed pitcher A.J. Schugel was designated for assignment.

Wieland spent the bulk of his 2015 season with Class AAA Oklahoma, making 21 starts and one relief appearance.
