HEATING UP…the Mariners posted the 6th-best record in baseball from Aug. 21 through the end of the regular season…during this span, the Mariners record of 19–14 (.576) trailed only Los Angeles-NL (.727/24–9), Tampa Bay (.676/23–11), San Diego (.667/22–11), Atlanta (.600/21–14) and Chicago-AL (.588/20–14).

NOW THAT’S QUALITY…the Mariners ranked T2nd in the American League/T5th in the Major Leagues with 25 quality starts (also: Houston)…trailed only Cleveland (37), Chicago-NL (30), Colorado (28) and Cincinnati (26)…Marco Gonzales and Justus Sheffield led the Mariners with 6 quality starts apiece, tied with Dylan Bundy-LAA, Zach Plesac-CLE and Framber Valdez-HOU for 9th-most in the American League…Gonzales and Sheffield were followed on the club by Justin Dunn (4), Yusei Kikuchi (3), Nick Margevicius (3) and Taijuan Walker (3).
