Donn Roach (2-2) gets win with six innings of six-hit pitching for Tacoma.
TACOMA — Ed Lucas and Tyler Smith hit solo home runs in the second and third innings, staking Tacoma to a 2-0 lead en route to a 3-1 win over Salt Lake in Pacific Coast League play Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium.
That was enough for Rainiers starter Donn Roach (2-2), who threw six innings of six-hit ball — the lone blemish being Jeff Bandy’s solo home run in the fourth.
Three relievers finished it from there, allowing just one hit in three innings and striking out five.
