King County Council considers controversial Mariners lease

No stranger to stadium issues, things are heating up at Safeco -- and not because of any plays on the field.

The issue at hand is the terms of the Mariners lease, and exactly how much money allocated from tax payers they have coming to them. And on Monday the King County Council considered whether or not to give $8.3 million per year from 2021 to 2043 to Safeco Field upkeep.

If granted, Safeco would greenlight $385 million in upgrades over the next 25 years to keep the stadium in the same state it's in now, and any modernization that would come up during that time.
