Junis flirts with no-no as Royals rout Mariners

KANSAS CITY -- Young Royals right-hander Jakob Junis continued his sterling start to the season with seven innings of one-hit ball on Monday as Kansas City blanked Seattle, 10-0, on a chilly night at Kauffman Stadium.

Junis saw his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the seventh on an infield single by Mariners rookie Daniel Vogelbach, but still wound up throwing seven scoreless innings for his second straight start and has allowed just four hits over those 14 frames.

Vogelbach ripped a hard shot back up the middle that shortstop Alcides Escobar, shifted behind second base, knocked down but couldn't make a play on for the lone hit off the 25-year-old Junis.
