Numbers are a big part of modern baseball discussion. A very big part. And as a result, you’ll sometimes hear or see people say things like “You can’t measure everything” or “No matter how hard you try, you can’t make this an exact science.”

And the truth is, no one is. Or, at least not the people in charge.

On Ep. 008 of The Wheelhouse, Jerry Dipoto fielded a question from listener Brian Kessler, a teacher at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Brian asked: “You are well-known as a numbers and Statcast-oriented general manager, but do you still hold any stock in the idea of ‘intangibles’ as a factor in the success of a team or player?
