The Mariners made their reunion with Ichiro official on Tuesday, bringing back one of the club's best-ever players for a second stint.
A star on two continents, Ichiro was a sensation after coming over from Japan before the 2001 season. He became an immediate superstar at age 27, winning American League Rookie of the Year and AL MVP after leading the league in hitting.
His career stats are staggering: 3,080 career hits (well over 4,300 if you include his time in Japan), 362 doubles, 96 triples, 780 RBIs and 509 stolen bases. He is one of just six Major League players with 3,000-plus hits and more than 500 stolen bases, joining Hall-of-Famers Ricky Henderson, Paul Molitor, Lou Brock, Eddie Collins, Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner.
