El Paso shuts down the Tacoma Rainiers, 5-0

EL PASO, Texas — Four El Paso pitchers combined on a five-hitter in a 5-0 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday in a Pacific Coast League game.

Rainiers starter Adrian Sampson (2-1) allowed five runs — all earned — in five innings, giving up 10 hits and a walk. He struck out three.

Tacoma catcher Mike Zunino went 1 for 4, dropping his batting average to .400.

Hunter Renfroe hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for the Chihuahuas, and Carlos Asuaje had three hits for El Paso.
