Edgar Martinez Inducted into the Hall of Fame

EDDDDDDDD-GARRRRRRRR!

The chants began before he stepped to the podium to deliver a speech filled with his trademark humility and graciousness. They began before he accepted the plaque honoring his many accomplishments. And they began before he officially joined the greatest players to ever play the game of baseball in sharing the hallowed halls at 25 Main Street in upstate New York. Thousands of Mariners fans made it clear who they were there to see:

Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez.

On a sweltering Sunday afternoon in the village of Cooperstown, New York, Edgar joined Harold Baines, Roy Halladay, Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera and Lee Smith in being inducted into the Hall of Fame — the highest honor in baseball — before an estimated crowd of 55,000, including a significant number of Mariners fans.
