Classic Mariners Games: The Final Game of Ichiro’s Hall of Fame Career

It was a poetic end to an unrivaled career.

On March 21, 2019 — in the finale of the two-game Japan Opening Series against the Oakland A’s — Ichiro Suzuki took his final bow.

In the bottom of the 8th, Ichiro left the field to a standing ovation. Following the game, Ichiro announced his retirement from his playing career.

The future Hall of Famer had a 19-year Major League career, including 14 seasons with the Mariners. Ichiro retired as the active Major League hits leader, ranking 21st all-time in MLB history with 3,089 career hits.
