Classic Mariners Games: Griffey Hits Three Home Runs Against Toronto

On his way to earning the Most Valuable Player award in the American League, Ken Griffey Jr. enjoyed a torrid start to the 1997 season.

In 26 games in April, Junior hit .340 and totaled 19 extra-base hits and 30 RBI while posting a 1.207 OPS (.420 OBP/.786 SLG).

His 13 home runs in the month set the Major League record for most home runs by the end of April.

Three of those home runs came on April 25 in Toronto, as he led the Mariners to victory in a 13–8 slugfest with the Blue Jays.
