The 2012 season featured a pair of pitching match-ups at Safeco Field that pitted two of the top hurlers in the American League: Félix Hernández and the Rangers Yu Darvish.
These two squared off in Seattle on May 21 and July 14 of 2012. Both Hernández and Darvish were All-Stars in 2012. Hernández was in his 8th big league and was two years removed from claiming the AL Cy Young Award, while Darvish was in his rookie campaign in the Majors after a seven-year career in the NPB.
By season’s end, Hernández and Darvish each ranked among the top-20 AL leaders in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA.
