The Triple-A All-Star Game is coming to Tacoma.
At a scheduled news conference Wednesday at Cheney Stadium, ownership from the Rainiers as well as Branch Rickey III, president of the Pacific Coast League, will announce Tacoma has been selected to host the 2017 event at the remodeled venue.
The Triple-A All-Star Game is held the day after the major-league All-Star Game, which is on a Tuesday. The Triple-A event also has a Home Run Derby, which is usually two days before the game. The game has been televised on MLB Network.
The best players from the PCL and the International League – baseball’s highest minor-league level – will represent their respective leagues.
