A Bellingham native, Shenton was selected by the Mariners in the 5th round of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Florida International University. During his first professional last year, played for both the Everett AquaSox and the West Virginia Power.
A Bellingham native, Austin Shenton grew up cheering on the Mariners. He always dreamed about being a professional baseball player and playing for his hometown team. He developed a love for all sports, playing and excelling in basketball, soccer, football and tennis, but baseball stuck.
He began his collegiate career with Bellevue College before traveling across the country to play two seasons with Florida International University.
