Cal Raleigh only hits dingers.
The Home Run Derby is tonight in Atlanta, and Raleigh will compete. He enters the derby leading the league with 38 homers through the Mariners’ first 96 games. He’s on pace to shatter Salvador Perez’s single-season record for most homers by a catcher (48) and to set new marks for switch-hitters (54), the Mariners (56) and the American League (62). We can see his pace compared to the record-setting seasons of Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, and Aaron Judge:

Raleigh’s inclusion in the event is fitting, not just as the league’s home run leader but also because home runs are the only thing he’s hit the last few weeks.
