In today's Mariners trade rumors and news update, the Seattle Mariners have contacted the Boston Red Sox about a potential trade for Boston ace Jon Lester.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Mariners have turned their attention from the suddenly untouchable David Price to Lester due to a multitude of factors:

Out of all the teams who are vying for Lester for the stretch run, the Mariners present one of the most intriguing fits for him when it comes to potentially re-signing the 30-year-old lefty this winter.
Lester has indicated that he'd be willing to return to Boston if traded on a two-month rental to a contender. However, the allure of playing for a young, promising team in his home state could be enough to convince Lester that the grass is sometimes greener on the other side.
