SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will feature three former Santa Clara student-athletes, including Julie Ertz, a longtime member of the U.S. Women's Soccer team.
Joining Ertz in Japan will be former men's basketball player Lloyd Pierce and former women's soccer player Danielle Slaton.
Pierce is one of the assistant coaches on the men's basketball team and Slaton will serve as an soccer analyst on NBC broadcasts.
A midfielder, Ertz is one of 18 players selected for the national team which opens group play Wednesday against Sweden.
Pierce has spent nearly 15 years as an NBA coach, including more than two years as the Atlanta Hawks head coach.
