Santa Clara University women's volleyball makes history

The Santa Clara women's volleyball team knocked off No. 7 ranked USC on the way to capturing the USC Baden Invitational championship on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Led by setter Kirsten Mead, who was named tournament MVP, the Broncos (3-0) rallied past the Trojans 22-25, 25-11, 25-20, 25-17 and then beat Marquette 25-17, 25-22, 16-25, 25-14 in the title match.USC is the highest-ranking team SCU has defeated in the program's regular-season history, eclipsing a five-set win over then-No. 9 Arizona State in 1982. Nikki Hess and Taylor Laugero were named to the all-tournament team.
