MALIBU, Calif. – Billy Cook hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Pepperdine a 5-4 win over Santa Clara baseball on Sunday to take the weekend West Coast Conference series.
Santa Clara (6-23, 1-8 WCC) had a golden opportunity to win the rubber match when catcher Tony Boetto hit a two-RBI single in the top of the eighth to give the Broncos a 4-3 lead.
However, in the bottom of the ninth, Wyatt Young tied it up on an RBI infield single off Broncos closer Eric Lex who was trying to earn a two-inning save.
