Men’s Golf Tied For Third After 18 Holes Of WCC Championship

SANTEE, Calif. – Led by sophomore Matt McCarty, who carded a 2-under 70, Santa Clara men's golf compiled a 290 to tie for third after the first round of the WCC Championship. The Broncos entered the clubhouse 10 shots behind leader No. 33 ranked Pepperdine.

"It's a tough course," head coach Rob Miller said of the Carlton Oaks layout. "It was challenging with the wind, especially in the afternoon."

The Broncos, ranked No. 50 in this week's Golfstat.com poll, ended the day tied with No. 45 San Francisco. The two are also eight-shots behind second-place Saint Mary's, which shot a 282 on Monday.
