SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's and women's basketball teams, along with volleyball, will have a new playing surface for the 2016-17 season.
Construction to replace the Leavey Center floor, which is 14-years old, began this week, with the process expected to last approximately three months.
Once the current surface is removed, new cabling and wiring will be installed before the new floor is laid down.
Through Nike's partnership with the school, Tinker Hatfield, the company's vice president for design and dpecial Projects, has created the floor design, which will incorporate the recently unveiled athletics marks.
