SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing West Coast Conference play, Santa Clara softball split with LMU with both games finishing 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

McCall James (1-3) shutdown LMU (15-26, 1-4 WCC) and tossed her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career. After allowing a two-out single in the first, James retired the next 12 straight before a walk ended the streak. She would allow just two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
"McCall was awesome for us today," Santa Clara head coach Lisa Mize said. "She threw strikes and kept LMU off balance the entire game.
