SAN MATEO, Calif. — Santa Clara University freshman Marya Hudgins was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week Monday for the week of Jan. 9-15 after shining in the first two starts of her career.
Hudgins averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 42.3% from the floor and an even more impressive 46.2% from 3-point range in two WCC home games. She led all players Saturday with a season-high 21 points in the Broncos' 14-point win over Pacific. She narrowly missed a double-double in that game with nine rebounds and also had two steals.
