PROVO, Utah – BYU's inside-outside combination of forward Eric Mika and guard TJ Haws was too much for Santa Clara men's basketball in the West Coast Conference opener for both teams.
Mika posted a game-high 19 points and corralled nine rebounds, and Haws scored 17 on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the 3-point line, to lead the Cougars to an 89-59 victory Thursday at Marriott Center.
Steven Beo nailed all four field goal attempts to add 12 points for the Cougars (10-4, 1-0) who shot a season-high 53.
