San Jose State recruiting: Two South Bay prospects head early signings

San Jose State had announced six signings by mid-morning on football letter of intent day Wednesday, with about another dozen expected.

Offensive tackle Mike Grandy from Palo Alto High and tight end Cameron Woodard from Valley Christian were the most familiar names among the early signees. Also sending in early letters were defensive back Cameron Smith from Roosevelt-Corona and tight end Billy Humphreys from Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks. The Spartans already have two players on campus -- quarterback Sam Allen from Victor Valley College and place-kicker Jake Kanski from Ventura. Both players are junior college transfers. If everyone expected to sign sends in their letters, the Spartans should land nine three-stars, based on Scout.
