Why the Sharks’ forward depth could play a key role vs. Ducks

SAN JOSE — They all filtered out on the ice at various moments before the start of practice Tuesday. Marcus Sorensen, Melker Karlsson and Jannik Hansen were among the first, followed later by Barclay Goodrow, Joel Ward and Eric Fehr.

As the Sharks prepare for their playoff opener Thursday, there’s certainly no shortage of depth forwards on their roster, or options for coach Pete DeBoer to consider for Game 1 against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Sharks were at their best this season, particularly in mid-to-late March, when DeBoer could roll all four lines without worrying about some of his lower-profile players being caught out against the opposing team’s stars.
