Takeaways: Sharks can still win the Pacific Division

SAN JOSE — Brent Burns did his best Michael Jordan impression on Sunday, playing through a flu bug as the Sharks improved to 2-0 without Erik Karlsson and Evander Kane.

Granted, Burns didn’t exactly carry his team on his back like Jordan did when he dropped 38 points on the Utah Jazz in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals while battling through flu-like symptoms. Still, he led the team in ice time, logging 23:20 just one day after he skipped practice to spend the afternoon in bed. He also produced two shots and six attempts, setting up Melker Karlsson’s insurance goal at 8:16 of the third, recording his team-leading 72nd point of the season.
