Slow start dooms Sharks in Game 4 loss to Blues

ST. LOUIS — There’s a perception that luck has played a role in the Sharks’ success so far this postseason.

They didn’t have much Friday night.

The Sharks allowed first period goals to Ivan Barbashev and Tyler Bozak and never fully recovered, as the St. Louis Blues earned a 2-1 victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final to level the series at two wins apiece.

Tomas Hertl scored his first goal of the series as the Sharks converted on the power play at the 6:48 mark of the third period, but could get no closer as Blues goalie Jordan Binnington made 29 saves, including nine in the third period.
