Marcus Sorensen and Ryan Carpenter were assigned to the San Jose Barracuda, and Troy Grosenick was waived, according to the Sharks and ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun, respectively.
The Sharks sent down Sorensen, Carpenter, and 18 others to the Barracuda as they begin training camp today. Sorensen and Carpenter were among the players competing for a roster spot up front. With Timo Meier out with mononucleosis, it appears the competition to make the team lies between Nikolay Goldobin, Barclay Goodrow, and Kevin Labanc.
Grosenick, meanwhile, was likely waived to in order to join the Barracuda. The goaltender is on a one-way contract this season, according to General Fanager, and had to be waived in order to get sent down.
