Sharks takeaways: ‘the NHL still plays 60-minute games’

RALEIGH, N.C. — Pete DeBoer appreciates the fun that the Carolina Hurricanes are bringing to their postgame salutes to the crowd. He didn’t want to see it in person Friday night.

After the Hurricanes ended the Sharks three-game winning streak, the team lined up on the blue line, got the entire arena clapping in unison and performed a rowboat celebration. The guys ran to the red line and back, slid on the ice and pretended to be rowing kayaks, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The scene in the Sharks dressing room wasn’t quite as fun.
