SAN JOSE - With the 9th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson and Director of Scouting Tim Burke selected right wing Timo Meier (TEE-moh MIGHR).
The 18-year-old Meier spent last season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Meier registered 90 points (44-46=90) in 61 regular season games with Halifax last season, ranking T-5th in goals (44), T-19th in assists (46), and T-11th in points (90) amongst all players in the QMJHL.
He was named to the QMJHL's Second All-Star Team as well as being awarded with the 2015 Michael Bossy Trophy, given to the QMJHL player judged to be the best professional prospect.
