NHL free agency starts at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and the Sharks already have a number of defensive targets in mind.
The team's top target is Penguins defenseman Paul Martin, according to an ESPN report.
Martin, 34, is an 11-year veteran that has spent his last five seasons with the Penguins. The two-time All-Star totaled 20 points last year (3 goals, 17 assists).
San Jose is also in on pending UFA Cody Franson, a Western Conference source told Sharks Insider Kevin Kurz.
