While Todd McLellan’s coaching status in San Jose remains uncertain, the 47-year-old will serve as Team Canada’s head coach for the 2015 World Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic from May 1-17.
Among his assistants will be current Sharks assistant Jay Woodcroft, along with Peter DeBoer, most recently the head coach of the Devils, and Bill Peters, the current Hurricanes head coach.
In a statement, Team Canada (and Dallas Stars) general manager Jim Nill said: “This is a coaching staff with extensive experience in the NHL and knowledge of the international game, as well. As a management group we are excited to work with this staff, and look forward to building a roster and representing Canada in the Czech Republic next month.
