SAN JOSE -- The St. Louis Blues struck first in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, but not before the Sharks challenged for a possible offsides penalty.
San Jose coach Peter DeBoer asked referees to take a look to see if St. Louis entered the zone early before Troy Brouwer knocked in his sixth goal of the playoffs at 6:14 of the first period. After a lengthy review, the goal stood and the Blues had a 1-0 lead. It ended Sharks goaltender Martin Jones' shutout streak at 153 minutes, 56 seconds. He had made 62 straight saves dating back to Game 1 of the series and entered the day with shutouts in three of his previous four games.
