ST. LOUIS — Martin Jones might have allowed a few juicy rebounds that he paid for early in Game 5, but the Sharks’ goalie came up big when he had to late.
“It was a tough goalie game,” San Jose head coach Peter DeBoer said. “There was a lot of action in spurts, some real Grade-A chances. I think he made some big saves at the right time.”
Jones was attempting to bounce back after getting lifted halfway through Saturday’s Game 4 when he allowed four goals. Staked to a 1-0 lead in Game 5, Jones surrendered two goals on rebounds, then allowed the Blues to take another lead on a power-play goal that slipped under his pads.
