Sharks Forward Patrick Marleau Records His NHL Milestone 1,000th Point

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks left wing Patrick Marleau tonight became just the 83rd player in NHL history to reach the historic 1,000 point plateau, scoring his milestone marker against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an assist at 7:54 of the first period at CONSOL Energy Center. The goal was scored by Brent Burns and also assisted by Joel Ward. Marleau becomes the first player to record all 1,000 points in a Sharks uniform and the 36th NHL player to record at least 1,000 points with one franchise.

He becomes the third player to record his milestone 1000th point in a Sharks uniform (Joe Thornton, 1,264 and Vincent Damphousse, 1,205) and joins former Sharks Teemu Selanne (1,457), Jeremy Roenick (1,216), Bernie Nicholls (1,209) and Ray Whitney (1,064) in the 1000-point club.
