Sharks' Couture suffers fractured right fibula

NEWARK - Sharks center Logan Couture will miss the next 4-to-6 weeks with a fractured right fibula at the ankle, general manager Doug Wilson announced on Friday.

Couture will return to the San Jose area and have surgery on Saturday “under the direction of Kaiser Permanente’s medical team,” according to Wilson.

The 26-year-old Sharks forward was hurt on Thursday towards the end of practice at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. During a five-on-five drill Couture went down in the corner and looked to be in significant pain. After needing a couple minutes to sit up, he was helped off of the ice by Brent Burns and Brenden Dillon, and was putting no weight on his right leg which was being elevated by a team trainer.
