Sharks' Burns named finalist for NHL's Norris Trophy

SAN JOSE – Brent Burns has been named as one of three finalists for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman, the Sharks announced on Friday.

Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty and Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson are the others. The award is voted upon by the media at the conclusion of the regular season.

Burns, 31, led all NHL defensemen with 27 goals and was second in scoring with 75 points, behind only Karlsson. He appeared in all 82 regular season games with the Sharks, finishing third in points, and setting new franchise records for most goals and points for a blueliner in a single season.
