SAN JOSE -- Brent Burns' history making season continued Friday as he became the first Sharks defenseman to be named a finalist for the Norris Trophy.
Los Angeles' Drew Doughty and Ottawa's Erik Karlsson were also named finalists for the award, given to the defenseman "who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position."Burns, 31, set franchise records for a defenseman this season with 27 goals and 75 points. His goal total led all NHL defensemen and he was second behind Karlsson, the Norris winner in 2012 and 2015, among all blue liners in total points.
