Rewind: Sharks' game declines throughout road trip

NEW YORK CITY – When an NHL club hits the road for an extended road trip, the players typically talk about the importance of winning the first game in order to build momentum.

The Sharks did that, smacking down the Washington Capitals on Oct. 13, 5-0.

Instead of gaining steam, though, the Sharks got progressively worse in each of their next three road matches, culminating in an ugly 4-0 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

Nothing went right for San Jose in this one.

“We lost pretty much every facet of the game,” coach Pete DeBoer said.
