BROOKLYN – For the first four games, the Sharks were nearly impossible to score on. Replace their starting goalie and remove one of their top blueliners, though, and suddenly it’s not such a daunting task.
Defenseman Paul Martin was a late scratch due to a lower body injury while Martin Jones was given his first night off, and the result was a 6-3 Islanders win at Barclays Center on Saturday night. The Sharks had three separate leads, but New York scored the eventual game-winner a little more than four minutes into the third period.
Regarding Martin’s injury, coach Pete DeBoer said he didn’t “anticipate it being serious, but I don’t know yet.
