Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa is willing to waive his no-trade clause to get moved to the Sharks, according to a report.
The Sharks are also reportedly willing to extend Bieksa’s contract. The 34-year-old has one year remaining on his deal at a $4.6 million salary cap hit, but is only due $2.5 million in actual dollars.
Just what the Sharks are willing to surrender for Bieksa’s services is unclear, although it’s likely to be a draft pick (or picks), perhaps one of San Jose’s two second rounders in 2016. The thought regarding the potential deal is that Vancouver is looking to shed salary.
