Purdy: Sharks-Kings follows only Giants-Dodgers in nastiness

For the fourth time in six years, the Sharks and Kings began a playoff hockey interface Thursday night.

Hostilities and audience enmity ensued."Boooooooooooooooo!" commented the Staples Center crowd as the Sharks skated onto the ice.Later, the customers chanted: "San Jose inhales, San Jose inhales." Or words to that effect.And finally, Southern California being a cartoon kind of place, the pregame scoreboard hoo-ha featured a South Park cartoon character, squashing a cartoon shark."There's no secret, both teams don't like each other," said Sharks centerman Joe Thornton in the other locker room.No kidding. And as the two teams have met in the postseason over and over -- the Sharks winning in 2011, the Kings in 2013 and 2014 -- the fans of both teams began visiting the other's arenas more often, amping up the atmosphere and taunting each other.
