There was no bigger deal at the NHL trading deadline in 2014 than team captain Martin St. Louis going from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the New York Rangers in exchange for team captain Ryan Callahan.
Now, those two players are focal points the Rangers and Lightning meet in the Eastern Conference finals, which begin Saturday in New York.
Coming into the series, both carry question marks. Callahan has yet to score a goal in the postseason and had an appendectomy early this week. St. Louis not only hasn’t scored in the playoffs, but New York head coach Alain Vigneault benched him in the third period of Game 7 against Washington on Wednesday.
