Everything started off well for San Jose in Game 3.

The Sharks Erik Karlsson and Joe Thornton scored two goals in the first period and the team looked like it would steamroll ahead, but then the second period happened. The St. Louis Blue answered back with four goals with two by David Perron to take the lead. The Sharks Joe Thornton managed to score once in the second period to make it 4-3. This led to desperation for the Sharks late in the game and the team managed to pull off a tying goal. Logan Couture scored with a little over a minute left to play, sending the NHL Stanley Cup playoff Western Conference Finals Game 3 to overtime.
