The second day of the NHL draft was also moving day for NHL goalies.
Five goalies, including the Sharks’ Antti Niemi, (see above), were traded as teams looked to address their depth.
The New York Rangers were part of two of the deals, sending backup goalie Cam Talbot and a late-round draft pick to the Edmonton Oilers and getting back three draft picks. New York addressed Talbot’s departure by acquiring goalie Antti Raanta from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for minor-league forward Ryan Haggerty.
The Carolina Hurricanes also swung two trades, picking up goalie Eddie Lack from the Vancouver Canucks for two draft picks and sending goalie Anton Khudobin to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman James Wisniewski.
